Tonight I Dined: Samurai Noodle

I visited Samurai Noodle, a Seattle-based ramen shop with a random outpost in Houston (they also have a newly opened location at the conservatory food hall downtown). At Samurai they have an extensive menu, with 2 vegan ramen options, and a few vegan appetizers (all labeled!). I ordered the vegan miso stir fry ramen. This large bowl of soup was served with baby bok choy, bamboo shoots, carrots, corn, fresh buckwheat noodles, and two large pieces of tofu in a savory miso broth. It was delicious, and a treat to try something a little different. While I enjoyed it, I can't help but compare it to my favorite Asian noodle soup, pho. I just enjoy the taste of pho, the assortment of veggies, and rice noodles a lot more. Plus around town I can get a huge bowl of vegan pho between $8.50 and $10, so this ramen coming in at $10.95 is a little pricey. I would recommend for a vegan who hasn't tried fresh ramen to check Samurai Noodle, because the food is fresh and flavorful.
