Something I Tried: Whole Foods Pumpkin Spice Bites

'Tis the season in which grocery shelves are taken over by gourds. That's right, it's pumpkin spice time! I have a few interesting product reviews in the works and I'm happy to present my first of the fall, Pumpkin Spice Bites from Whole Foods.

Whole Foods brand has peanut butter and jelly bites that I really enjoy. They are pillowy, crispy pockets filled with a sweet, fruity interior. I picked up the pumpkin spice bites because they seemed really similar. The crispy exterior is almost the same, except it has a cinnamon-sugar coating. I think some people will really like it, but it makes it messier to eat (and my pants inevitably have a shimmer of sugar crystals all along the side from where I wipe my hands). The filling is interesting...it is like an apple butter with all the traditional spices. Unfortunately it doesn't have a pumpkin taste...just the fixins'. This was indeed tasty, but I'm afraid to say it's more of an apple pie product masquerading as our beloved pumpkin spice and doesn't quite satisfy my pumpkin craving.

Overall Taste: 6/10
Pumpkin-ness: 1/10
