Something I Tried: Trader Joe's Giant Baked Beans

Throughout college I lived on jarred pasta sauces like Ragu and pre-made Indian meals in packets. I've been spoiled by freshness since I started to make my own pasta sauce, and I even try to use dry beans over canned most of the time. However, I love giant beans, so when I saw this can of Mediterranean style Giant Baked Beans at Trader Joe's, I hopped on it. I first tasted them on their own. Then I tossed some of the beans into some pasta with cherry tomato, lemon and lots of garlic. Nope nope nope. Way too canned tasting and too sweet (these are one step up from Bush's baked beans). Even mixed in with my fresh ingredients this was not appetizing. My college self would have loved these, and I think a lot of people out there will like these to eat on their own as a side dish or toss into a salad, but my taste buds aren't about this life (see this article for how your tastes change throughout time). I don't think it's fair to give a star rating to this one, since I should have learned by now not to buy stuff like this, it's not my cup of tea, but it definitely will be someone elses!
