Something I Tried: Gardein Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites

Here is yet another review of a (spoiler) totally delicious Gardein product. After my sister peeped my review of the Mandarin Orange Crispy Chik'n, she put in a request for us to make it together when she visited. Unfortunately, my local HEB was fresh out of the orange flavor, but I saw that they had Sweet and Sour Porkless Bites and thought it might be similar. Like last time, I didn't prepare the frozen faux meat as-is, I added fresh pineapple, red and green bell pepper, garlic, onion, and a dash of soy sauce. It was super quick and took less time than preparing the jasmine rice in the rice cooker (so start your rice first, wink wink). This dish was absolutely ah-maze-ing. I couldn't tell you if it actually tasted like pork, but as far as vegan meats go, it tasted distinct from chik'n and not-beef. I loved the crispy texture and soft interior of the bites and the sauce was sweet and salty...if anything I would say they could pump up the sour tang a bit more. I would definitely get this again because it is a quick and easy meal for two (or me plus a midnight snack) for a couple bucks that is unique. I can't say it's healthy, but it sure tastes like fast food and is definitely better for you than that...and besides y'all need a cheat day once in a while!
8/10 Hoo-rah for this deliciousness. Minus points for not being sour enough.
