Peri Peri Tofu

As an homage to Sandra Lee, this dish is semi-homemade. Would I like to make my own peri peri sauce? Yes. But I need to know what it tastes like first and so I grabbed the official Nando's peri peri sauce (in medium heat) from my local grocery, Central Market. The bottle says it's suitable for vegetarians and there seems to be a consensus among internet vegans that it is indeed suitable for vegans too.

I fried up some firm tofu slices until they were golden brown. In the last minute or two of cooking I added some green onions and the peri-peri sauce. I served it with some boiled corn and fresh grape tomatoes.

The verdict: Glorious! This sauce was tangy and (somewhat) spicy and had a great texture that clung onto the tofu way better than your typical hot sauce. It has lived up to all the hype surrounding it. I will definitely have to hunt down some African bird's eye chilis to make my own!
