Sweet and Spicy Chili Wings

I found a package of chicken drumsticks in the frozen section of a vegetarian grocery in Chinatown! I was surprised to find it was just tofu wrapped in tofu skin on a popsicle stick! I was worried the stick might burn, but it worked just fine. I decided to go with a spicy Asian style hot sauce, but these would taste equally delicious with a classic hot sauce (vinegar based sauce and dairy free butter).

Sweet and Spicy Chili Wings
1/4 C soy sauce
2 Tbsp rice vinegar
2 Tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 lime (juice)
handful of cilantro (ripped into pieces)
1 serrano pepper (diced)
1 Tbsp ginger paste
2 tsp garlic paste
2 tsp red chili flakes
1 package of drumsticks

1. Let drumsticks thaw. Use when they are slightly above room temp.
2. In a small bowl add all sauce ingredients and whisk to combine.
3. Fry in a wok with canola or vegetable oil. Use tongs to flip each piece to ensure even browning.
4. In the last few minutes of cooking add sauce. Toss to coat.
5. Serve immediately.
Interesting find that is great
because it is tofu-based!
Finished product. Messy and yum.
