New Hampshire VegFest
Last weekend I attended New Hampshire VegFest in Manchester. Here's a roundup of what I ate! Scroll to the bottom for some pros and cons of the event too.
Taco Party truck (based out of Boston, MA)
Spicy chorizo; jackfruit with Asian slaw; and chimichurri tempeh tacos
Fried tofu and mango salsa; and fried plantain and pickled red onion tacos
Susty's Cafe (based out of Northwood, NH)
Tofu focaccia sandwich
Pros: Manchester community college was a nice venue, with lots of tables and chairs for eating. Parking on campus was ample. There was a huge turnout even though it was a dreary, rainy day--go vegans!
Cons: I arrived less than halfway through the event and many of the vendors (mostly bakeries) were already sold out. In addition, there were many more non-food vendors than food vendors. People couldn't find food to eat inside-- you had to stand out in the rain in long (did I say long?) lines for the 2 savory and 2 sweet food trucks. I even saw people buying food out of the vending machines. Womp womp. Growing pains? Maybe there can be lessons learned for the organizers and vendors to make next year's event more food focused!
