Tonight I Dined: Su Xing House

I am shocked that I have no posts on the blog about Su Xing House, my favorite restaurant in Philly. I met up with my three sisters there with my sisters over winter, and made sure to stop by again when I was in town for VegFest. I can't get enough of it, and go back again and again even though there are so many other awesome vegan options in town.

Su Xing is easy to miss walking by on Sansom, but under the faded brown awning is a vegetarian paradise. I always go for their tofu, there is nothing better than a melt-in-your-mouth interior with a crispy, fried exterior. The bean curd homestyle has large pieces of tofu, broccoli, zucchini, carrots, and shitake in a slightly spicy brown sauce. This simple preparation really let's the ingredients sing. It's the best tofu dish I've had. Go to Su Xing, try it, then debate me.

There is always complimentary hot tea with your meal, and the check is served with fresh orange slices and fortune cookies.

Pro tip: Go Monday-Saturday for their lunch specials. It is a smaller portion entree but includes soup and an appetizer for all between $8 and $10...it's really a steal.
